Strictly Come Dancing had to forgo the pleasure of host Bruce Forsyth, last weekend, due to the veteran entertainer catching a bad case of flu. Alas, despite his venerated position within the entertainment industry, his absence only confirmed what most of us think. The man needs to bow out gracefully. His jokes and constant references to his great age have become an embarrassment. There is something cold and ambitious about Tess Daly, but she did a great job in presenting the show, as did her co-host Claudia Winkleman.
Did you see Lionel Blair behind Ronnie Corbett in the audience? The poor man is missing his time in the limelight and was doing everything he could to remain within camera range, when comic Ronnie was being interviewed by Tess. They could have given the ex-hoofer a little air-time and helped his quest for a spot on some soap or other.
Will Bruce make it for the show this weekend? My bet is he will....before the decision to drop him for good is finally made.
Meanwhile, I am thinking about starting a campaign to get Lionel back on the box! EastEnders would be ideal!
