Louis Walsh, X Factor judge and artist manager, has been told by the Irish police that he has no charge to answer following the allegations made by a 24 year-old single dad. It seems his accuser has admitted he lied about the whole incident, which must be an embarrassment for The Sun, the tabloid which first splashed the story across its front page.
The whole story started to unravel within hours of its appearance in the tabloid and one wonders how much effort The Sun made to authenticate the allegations before publishing. It would be sad if Britain's biggest selling newspaper reverted to the old days, when its homophobic stance was a great comfort to the anti-gay lobby.
